The architecture of every new place I explore is completely fascinating; it’s indicative of not only a different culture but a different time period. These places structurally sound to last decades, and are also elegant in their design.

It feels dreamlike and mysterious walking through a new place and discovering it for the first time. The cities abroad, especially in Europe and the Middle East, are much more distinct when comparing the old and new. It’s as though one is walking around in the distant past, centuries away. It’s the closest thing we have to time travel.

Though the US is less than 300 years old, it too has captivating cities, and the oldest ones exist on the east side. That’s not to say cities heading west don’t have beauty and intrigue to offer. They do and resemble the old American West, as the settlement and economic development of that area did not have its boom until after the railroads were completed in the late 1800s.

Philadelphia is actually very beautiful despite its reputation. You just have to know where to look.
